Hints and Tips

Base Images

  • If you plan to use one of your own photographs, stored on your computer, select an image where the person or persons are close up - small images of people against a landscape won't come out particularly well when it gets the motillism treatment.
  • Close up images of people work well
  • If you plan to use the internet to find an appropriate image, type the name of the person or thing into the search box then click on the search button. When the results come up, you will normally see an 'Images' option - click on this to show the image results. Once you've found the best image, right-click on it and save it to your computer. You can then upload this save using the 'upload an image' browse button.
  • Images don't need to be massive - in fact, if you upload a huge image, the site will resize it anyway.

The Words

  • This can be a bit more tricky and time-consuming, depending on the type of words that you want to use.
  • Film Scripts are pretty easy to assemble. There are loads at the Internet Movie Script Database site (www.imsbd.com).
    • Find the film script that you want, then drag your mouse over the script from top to bottom (making sure that you're not highlighting the ads and links etc.). Once you've highlighted the script in full, hold down the Ctrl key and press C to copy it all.
    • Then you need to open a text editor, like notepad for example, and hold down Ctrl and press V to paste the copied text in.
    • Then save the file to your computer.
  • Lyrics are a bit more work. There are so many lyric sites out there that there's no point recommending one. Just type lyrics into your search engine and click on any of the links that come up.
    • These sites tend to show one song at a time, so if you are planning on collecting every track that artist has created, you will need to repeat the copying and pasting work a good number of times - but it will be worth it to get the perfect image!
    • For each track you'll need to highlight the lyrics (avoiding ads and other links if possible) with your mouse, hold down Ctrl and press C to copy the lyrics, then switch to a notepad document and hold down Ctrl and press V to paste it in.
(Please note, be careful on these sites - they make there money from pop up ads etc., so make sure that your browser is set up to block them)
  • Football Results are pretty complicated and are not for the fain-hearted so, over time, we'll make these available for as many clubs as we can.
  • The key thing about the words that you use, the more 'realistic' the final image is. The minimum would be around 10,000 characters (that's about the size of the lyrics of one album) and the maximum is about 230,000 characters (around the size of a hefty film script, shakespearian play or small book) and will fit on an A1 poster print.
